Pricing for Commercial Print Operations

$0.02 per record · the whole direct-mail stack
As low as $0.015 at high volume.

One flat per-record price covers every step between your client's list and USPS induction. Drop-ship freight is the only line that bills separately, because freight is freight.

Drop-ship freight is the only add-on, billed at actual cost. Your existing MIS — PrintSmith, Avanti, EFI Pace — stays in place; we push job, account, and cost data into it via REST API and SFTP.

How to read this table

The legacy stack range is wide because some shops have invested in deep automation and others run more manual processes. A typical mid-sized commercial direct-mail printer falls in the $0.025–$0.045 range when all license, labor, and service-fee allocations are honestly counted. Lean operators at the low end of the range still pay roughly what DirectMail.io charges — but pay it across six-to-ten vendor relationships and a multi-FTE specialist lane.

At your volume

Annual savings on the data-to-induction lane alone.

Difference between the typical mid-sized printer's stack ($0.025–$0.045 per piece) and DirectMail.io's $0.02 flat. Excludes labor freed up, composition spoilage eliminated, and postage routing optimization — those are upside on top.

Beyond per-piece price

These figures cover only the per-piece stack cost. The bigger upside lives in the workflow consolidation: 4–6 specialist FTEs in the data, composition, and postal lane reallocate to higher-value account work; the composition stage disappears from the production schedule (industry spoilage benchmark is 2–3% of revenue, and VDP composition errors are a meaningful share); and postal entry-point auto-routing closes the published $0.15–$0.20-per-piece gap between poorly- and well-optimized mailings.
